We spend the majority of our time at work. If that set up does not complement our body it can cause significant pain and dysfunction. We all get so distracted by our work that we usually forget about our posture and positioning and then before we know it we have an awful kink in our neck or numbness into our hand. When our body is not in the most ergonomic position muscles can be overworked causing pain or tendonitis, nerves can be pinched causing numbness and tingling and you can just overall be uncomfortable, so let’s fix it!


Simple changes to your work set up can make a huge difference. These tools can be purchased on Amazon at minimal cost but can save you hundreds of dollars in medical expenses.   1. Ergonomic Mouse- this is one of my favorite tools. It is a mouse turned sideways which helps to put the bones of your forearm in a neutral rotation. It also required less work from your extensor muscles which can be a common spot of tendinitis in the forearm while removing pressure at your carpal tunnel. This simple mouse is a game changer for people. I recommend this to clients every single day! If I could pick one thing for you to buy, this would be it!

  2. Laptop Riser- this stand holds your laptop at eye level. It is best to look at a screen at or slightly below eye level for less pressure on your neck. As you probably know…not great to be hunched over a computer all day. Bonus- This also encourages you to sit up taller. Pair this with the detachable keyboard below!

  3. Bluetooth Keyboard- our body loves change and movement. With this Bluetooth keyboard you were able to move it around during your workday and not be stuck in one position like you are with the laptop. Keep the keyboard close to your body so your elbows can be by your side. Maybe you need to change, put the keyboard on your lap for a little while to change your wrist and elbow position.

  4. Document Holder- there is nothing worse than being hunched over a document or a book while you're trying to read. This document holder can hold just about anything at a perfect angle for you to be able to read it while still sitting up tall and maintaining good posture. So long to the kinks in your neck!

  5. Foot stand- having your feet flat on the ground with your hips and knees at 90° can help take the pressure off your back and make you more comfortable. This foot stand works wonders but you can also stack of books or boxes to get the same affect.

  6. Sit to stand desk- want to go all out? The sit to stand desk allows you to change position throughout the day. Our bodies do not like to stay still. Having the ability to change your posture and position can help those aches and pains.


We spend so much of our time at work it is time to invest in yourself and your comfort. These small changes can make a huge difference after 40 hours a week 52 weeks a year. (P.S. some companies will buy you these tools if you ask!) Comfort does not have to be expensive. Shop around, look for deals and stock up when you find a good one. These are excellent gifts for everyone you know!
