Did you know?!… Working out is so good for you!!

You probably did, but incase you need more convincing, here are 8 reasons why you should exercise regularly…and get your friend to, also!

1. Exercise Prevents and/or Combats Health Conditions & Diseases

According to the Mayo Clinic, exercise has been proven to help manage or prevent the following health conditions. Exercise is the ultimate answer compared to things like a life time of medication.

  • Stroke

  • Metabolic syndrome

  • High blood pressure

  • Type 2 diabetes

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Arthritis

  • Falls

2. Mood Boost

Exercise releases endorphin and hormones that give you an immediate brain stimulation leaving you feeling happier, less anxious, relaxed and clear minded. Stressful day at work? tired of hearing kids bickering? GET MOVING! Regular exercise has also been linked to improved self confidence and self esteem

3. Improved Sleep

Struggling to get some valuable Zzzz’s at night? Difficulty falling asleep. Exercise (at least several hours before bed) has been linked to falling and staying asleep. Proper sleep is crucial for your body. It allows your body to heal and regenerate- this means quicker recovery from injury, more balanced hormones, better brain function. Who wouldn’t want this?!

4. Increased Strength and Endurance

Be able to carry that heavy laundry basket like a champion, run around with your kids for hours on end, walk around the waterpark with your family without being out of breath. Strength and endurance training will improve just about every aspect of your life.

5. Decrease Risk of Falls

As we age our joint receptors, muscles, reaction times and center of balance start to change. This can lead to increase risk off falls which can result in broken bones, muscle tears/strains and worse case surgery. Regular exercises has been linked to decreased risk of fall. You have better muscle strength and support around your joints, a better sense of balance and better use of fast twitch muscle fibers to prevent your fall. A few hours of exercise per week is WAY easier than weeks or months of recovery after a tumble.

6. Improve Bone Health

Weight training and weight bearing is CRUCIAL to prevent onset or worsening osteopenia or osteoporosis. Loading your bones helps to keep them strong. Weak and brittle bones are more likely to break. No one needs that!

7. Improve Circulation

Working out gets your blood pumping! But do you know why it's important? Improved blood flow allows your body to heal wounds faster, filter away junk quicker, feed your brain for better function, and keep your heart strong. I see first hand every single day the power of movement. Those that exercise and move regularly heal significantly faster than those that are sedentary.

8. Decrease or Prevent Pain

Physical activity and exercise can decrease the risk of developing chronic pain and can even help to lower and manage existing chronic pain (Law et al., 2017). Those that worked on improving muscle strength and flexibility were found to have a higher pain tolerance and reduced inflammation.

Exercise is crucial for your health and to allow your body to function at 100%. Yes, its hard to get started, feel motivated, know what to do, come up with exercises, find time in your already busy day. BUT carving out a few minutes for yourself will let you get the most out of your time the remainder of the day.

Set goals for yourself this year. YOU GOT THIS
